Carriage Doors, as the name suggests, were entry doors designed to provide for the clearance in height and width of horse-drawn carriages. These could range from the carriage houses (or garages) and gates of private estates and homes to public buildings such as fire houses.

Historic Doors has the capability to design and construct carriage doors for large-scale projects as well as residential properties. We can build authentic swinging carriage doors, as opposed to overhead look-alikes.

Historical Note
Following the same technological development as other doors, the construction of carriage doors also evolved from plank-style to frame-and-panel. More often tongue and groove boards were used as panels instead of solid wood raised panels.
